Experiences shared by families we have worked with
"I came to Kasih in a state of real uncertainty. My divorce had been dragging on elsewhere and I felt like nothing was being explained to me. From the first meeting, the advisor walked me through exactly what the process involved, what was realistic, and how long things would likely take. Nothing was rushed. Four months later, we had a consent order and I understood every part of it. I am genuinely grateful."

"Custody matters are deeply emotional and I was not in a position to handle conflict well. Kasih helped me understand what my options were and how to put my children's needs at the centre of everything. The advisor was patient with my questions and never made me feel like I was taking up too much time. The arrangement we reached has worked well for over a year now."

"Maintenance matters feel uncomfortable to talk about — money and family in the same conversation is never easy. I found Kasih to be straightforward about what I was entitled to and what the process involved. The fee agreement was clear before anything started. I would have liked slightly faster response times during the filing stage, but the overall experience was solid and professional."

"I needed Syariah divorce advice and was not sure where to turn. Siti at Kasih was knowledgeable, kind, and explained hadhanah and nafkah in terms I could follow. She helped me understand what the court would consider and what I could reasonably ask for. It was one of the better decisions I made during a very hard period."

"I appreciated the bilingual approach. My Bahasa Malaysia is more comfortable for certain conversations and Kasih accommodated that without any fuss. Rajan handled my High Court custody matter and was well-prepared throughout. He explained each hearing clearly and made sure I knew what to expect. The custody arrangement has been in place for eight months without issue."

"Working through maintenance arrangements when both parties have strong opinions is challenging. Kasih helped me keep the conversation focused and practical. The advisor explained how courts look at income, needs, and existing commitments — which helped me approach things more calmly. There were moments of delay due to the other party, but Kasih handled that patiently. Good, honest service."

Case Studies
Three families, three different paths
These accounts are composites drawn from the kinds of matters we regularly handle. Identifying details have been changed.
Challenge
Uncontested Civil divorce, three children
A couple agreed the marriage had ended but had no clear picture of the divorce process, how their joint assets would be addressed, or how to structure custody and schooling arrangements for their three school-age children.
How We Helped
We explained the petition process under the Law Reform Act, helped both parties structure a consent arrangement covering custody, access, and school decisions, and prepared the asset division documentation to be presented to the court for approval.
Outcome
Decree nisi and absolute obtained within approximately five months. Both parents report the co-parenting arrangement is working well. Asset division reflected agreed terms and was approved without amendment.
"We came in not knowing what to expect and left with everything set out clearly." — Client
Challenge
Contested Syariah custody — two young children
A mother sought sole hadhanah for two children under five following a divorce. The father disputed this. She was unfamiliar with how Syariah courts weigh these applications and was concerned about the process.
How We Helped
Our Syariah consultant explained hadhanah principles in detail, helped document the mother's caregiving arrangements, and supported her in presenting her circumstances to the court in a structured and considered way.
Outcome
Hadhanah granted to the mother with defined access rights for the father. Nafkah order obtained alongside. Client reports the process, while difficult emotionally, felt manageable because she understood each step.
"Having someone explain what was happening made all the difference." — Client
Challenge
Spousal maintenance — change in financial circumstances
A client needed to vary an existing maintenance order after losing employment. The previous agreement had been set at a level that was no longer sustainable, and the former spouse was not prepared to agree to a reduction informally.
How We Helped
We advised on the grounds for variation, helped prepare updated financial documentation, and filed the variation application. We explained the process and what the court would look for, preparing the client for the hearing thoroughly.
Outcome
Maintenance varied to a figure reflecting current circumstances. New order in place within three months of filing. Client felt the process was handled calmly and professionally, with no unnecessary conflict introduced.
"I felt supported throughout — not once did I feel like just another case." — Client
